GOOD TO KNOW

A small tool for a moment worth keeping

Video to Live Photo helps you turn a short part of an existing video into paired image and video resources. Choose your clip and cover, convert locally, and keep the result without an account or watermark.

Built around the conversion

The first version focuses on a short clip, an intentional cover, and a download that keeps the pair together. It does not include a subscription, a wallpaper collection, an AI animation service, or a companion app.

Device import deserves the same attention as file generation. Our guide distinguishes the package route tested in an iOS simulator, the failed loose-pair Files route, and a user-confirmed physical iPhone Live Photo import. The same tester also confirmed press-and-hold motion playback. This is an independent project and is not affiliated with Apple.

Help us reproduce a problem

Keep a local test note with your browser and operating-system versions, the file format and codec if known, the selected clip settings, and the error message or exact import behavior. The form below downloads the note to your device; it does not send a report.

For an iPhone import test, include the device model, iOS version, transfer method, whether Photos created one or two items, whether it displays LIVE, and whether motion plays. A successful download alone does not establish a successful import.

A public contact channel has not been configured for this preview. If you share a test note with someone, review its browser information and any notes first. Use a non-sensitive sample instead of attaching private photos or videos.

Try a checked sample first

These short color-bar samples passed macOS ImageIO, AVFoundation and PHLivePhoto checks. They are useful for separating import problems from problems with a source video. Sample A also imported as one Live Photo through the iOS 26.5 simulator's system importer. Saving that same pair from Files created separate photo and video items. The package name-menu route has since been confirmed to import as a Live Photo by an iPhone tester.

Start with Sample C: a portrait package saved through its preview name menu as one playable Live Photo in our iOS 26.5 simulator test. Extract the ZIP, open the extracted folder and its .pvt item, tap the name at the top, then Save to Photos. An iPhone tester confirmed Live Photo import through Save to Photos after initially using Save Image in the bottom-right share sheet, which added no photo. The same tester also confirmed press-and-hold motion playback.
